Reading

Reading

Sometimes I feel so alone.

Isolated in a world full of people,
Sure that no one will ever,
Be able to understand me.

I can sometimes lose all hope.

Floating in an ocean of sameness,
Drifting through blinding apathy,
No shore in sight.

Then I pick up a book.

This Author’s mind is like my own,
This story is my fresh air,
I can breathe in the connection.

All is not lost.

For if these writers can know me,
If they are me,
Then I am them.

I am not alone.

Somewhere out there,
Is another mind,
That could understand mine.

I am just waiting.

My story is still unfolding,
There is so much left to tell,
My heart is anticipating,

For my love to write the next line.

Oh God, I’m carrying a heavy load,

Sometimes it feels like I’ll implode,

Filled inside with so much pain,

Never feels like I’m quite sane.

“Let it go.” It’s what I’ve been told,

So I open my soul and I break the mold,

But the knots of pain, they stay there,

Can’t cut them away, can’t throw ‘em anywhere.

I can run, I can hide, I can sleep all day,

But from the pain, I can’t get away,

So I live my life and I let the pain lay,

While it strips my soul day after day.

Oh God, I’m carrying a heavy load,

Sometimes it feels like I won’t implode,

I walk around, but I’m not what I seem,

‘Cause inside my head I scream and scream.

I wish I could get away, wish I could fly,

Higher and higher up through the sky,

I’d go way, way up, then let myself fall,

And I’d hit this earth like a fireball.

Oh God, I’m carrying a heavy load,

But I’d feel better if you’d explode,

If God would burn you off the face of this earth,

Not one sane person would feel the dearth.

In the Shadows

To Love,

for Love’s sake,

in quiet desperation,

To Stand,

cloaked in Shadows,

to avoid complication,

To Wait,

passing time,

for Love’s sweet salvation…

Means Nothing,

without the strength,

to wait alone.

Love of Life

Love of Life

Each sunrise is a gift,

The dawning of a new day,

A chance to do something with life,

Instead of throwing life away.

Sunlight is a treasure,

The light that fuels the day,

A time for basking in the warmth of life,

Knowing everything will be okay.

Rain is a wonderful shower,

The elixir that fuels all life,

Just as your tears will cleanse you,

Free of your pain and strife.

The moon is a goddess,

Her light the giver of love,

She fuels the night with beauty,

As she watches from above.

The man who holds me close at night,

The light of love that I’ve been given,

His strength and beauty warm me,

His love’s a gift from Heaven.

Sunset on Diego Garcia

Sunset on Diego Garcia

The last sunlight mirrors across the water

as the waves dance on the shore.

The breeze stirs the leaves on the big palm trees

and pushes my hair to tickle at my face.

I am all alone on the white powder beach here

in this magical, peaceful place.

The clouds float across the water

at the very edge of the sky.

It seems a place where man should fall off the world

but the ships just sail on by.

The tide is moving in and the water slowly makes its way

further up the white sand shore.

I can hear the waves whisper and laugh

as they give then take once more.

Now visions dance in my head

as I look at the flashing golden water.

I can see a mermaid bow her head

giving thanks for the end of man’s day-

Then she swims in leaps and dives,

just as her Merfather taught her.

There’s a buccaneer ship anchored up on the horizon

it’s not watching the sunset for pleasure-

The Captain is waiting for night to fall

so the pirates can bury their treasure.

The sun has finally set itself

gently into the sea.

All that is left is a halo of red,

a gift of color to me.

The waves still whisper as the moon peeps out,

and oh how the water sprites dance.

They don’t see me watching them leap and fly,

the darkness gives me this chance.

Look! There is movement on the ship

and all the mermaids hide afar-

As shadows creep into the small boat

that’s roped over to the side.

The boat moves slowly to the shore

As the men man up the oars-

As they’re creeping in to bury their treasure

I feel that all this has happened long before.

I sit still, as the night enfolds me, in this quiet deserted place-

And all the visions disappear without leaving a trace.

The waves still dance along the shore,

Whispering of a long deep history-

And I am left here wishing,

I could decipher the mystery.
